Yury Butusov’s 'King Lear'

Yury Butusov's brilliant, Golden Mask Award-winning staging tells a story in which the collapse of a family, of a country, and of an individual are all interconnected. In Shakespeare's classic work, Lear, as Butusov sees it, imagined himself to be God's equal, and so he divided his kingdom between his daughters just to see what would happen. Featuring four-time Golden Mask Award-winning actor Konstantin Raikin as Lear.

Filmed before a live audience at Moscow's Satirikon Theatre.

Screening as part of Stage Russia's Artists in Exile series.

Runtime: 2 hours and 52 minutes (includes a 15 minute intermission)
