The Way (Fathom Event)

THE WAY is widely admired among moviegoers who see the film as a rare work of art, deftly balancing the dynamics of faith and doubt with pathos and depth. And just as the Camino pilgrimage itself has been followed by millions for the past thousand years to reveal some deeper revelation in one’s life — THE WAY also carries a similar impact for all who have seen it. Since its initial theatrical release, THE WAY has been "running a quiet marathon" collecting millions of fans across all spectrums and generations. And yet still, there is a new generation and audience who will embrace this film. They’ve heard about the Camino but may have never seen the movie. And certainly not in a cinema setting. As the Spring travel season arrives, the tens of thousands who are ‘Camino Curious’, now free from imposed lockdowns and fear, are expressing their desire to begin their own personal "Caminos;" perhaps pursuing this pilgrimage specifically, or simply expressing the need to travel "outside themselves."

In addition to and quite likely, most of the hundreds of thousands of people who have experienced the film, they have done so outside of a cinema setting. The opportunity to sit in a theatre and "travel to Spain," with friends, family, loved ones (and strangers) is what THE WAY is about, perhaps above all else. In 2023, THE WAY is a movie we all need, at a time when we need it the most.

Added Value Description: (15 minutes) Following the film: Rick Steves, Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez talk travel, culture, Pilgrimage, and THE WAY.
