The Wake

Short Live Action

The Wake is a short film that was developed from John Patrick Shanley’s one act play of the same name.
An Oscar, Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright - Mr. Shanley’s process, which often involves presenting his pieces at various stages of development in live theaters in New York, LA and Paris, birthed this film during one of those experimental and raucous evenings. The Wake has never been seen outside those intimate stages. Until now.
Starring Nicole Byer (Wipeout, Nailed It) and PJ Adzima (Book of Mormon, Broadway), The Wake is about the kinds of conversations we have with the people we’ve lost to the other side.
When Randy arrives at his father-in-law’s wake, he is surprised to find that no one else has shown up to pay their respects…that is, no one other than a strange Frenchman named Guy. And respect for the dead is the last thing on Guy’s mind….
