Disillusioned with New York’s punk scene, bleached blond rocker Wendy (Carrie Hamilton) hops a plane to Tokyo with dreams of making it big. Fran Kuzui’s zany tour through Japan's economic miracle exposes its crass fascination with pop idols. When Wendy turns her back on it all, she does so with a sweetness that feels like a gift to the audience. This is a gorgeous performance by Hamilton (the daughter of Carol Burnett) who died of cancer not long after making this movie.
