Shoshana

In this edge-of-your-seat thriller inspired by real events, a British police officer and a Jewish woman fall in love amidst the political turmoil of 1930s Tel Aviv. With British control over Palestine precarious and conflict inevitable, everyone is forced to choose a side. From acclaimed director Michael Winterbottom (The Trip, A Mighty Heart).

“Prolific UK multi-hyphenate Michael Winterbottom finally delivers his long-gestating political thriller, and it’s worth the wait... Britain’s official post-WWI administration of Palestine lasted from 1920-48 and is probably the UK colonial enterprise least addressed by its fiction filmmakers. But now prolific writer-director Michael Winterbottom ('The Trip,' 'A Mighty Heart') uses that complicated era as a backdrop to the compelling historical romance 'Shoshana.'" — Variety

"Like nearly all of Winterbottom’s work, this film judiciously balances earnestness with more visceral concerns... As a potted history of a time and place not often depicted in Western cinema, this will do nicely." — The Hollywood Reporter
